Shopping Blogs in Recessionary Times

I've been having an internal debate of sorts lately. I realize that this blog is primarily frivolous and centered in large part on shopping. Spending. Consuming. And in light of all the recent financial fall-out, I can't help but wonder, is it bad form to keep posting about these things? Or do we all need the "little luxuries" now more than ever? A little monogramming, or a little pink & green to brighten up an otherwise gray and dark time?

What do you think, Internet? Do you want more codes and wish lists? Or does it just make you gloomy to think about spending more instead of cutting back?

It helps when you have a code for a store you might purchase from.

Don't stop - There's nothing wrong with saving a bit or shopping vicariously.

Don't stop! We may not purchase as much in these times, but we will still be shopping. Your info will be such a help with the Christmas season upon us! Thank you!!!

I like it! Even though I'm broke it's fun to think about what I could buy if I had money.

I've been having these feelings too. I mostly blog about "things" and it's hard to justify it right now. Other than the fact it just makes you feel good :)

In your case though I would probably continue, because I think a lot of people depend on your research!

I may not buy as much right now, but I love to look! If there's a free ship code or a good sale, there's more of a chance that I'll purchase something "frivolous" for myself or others. I found salmon cove through your site and I love their stuff! In fact, I'm pretty sure I"m getting a shirt for my birthday which is coming up!! Yea!!

I love the shopping codes. With my own financial standings I still only have x amount of money to spend each month and I think the shopping codes and sales are a huge help.

Oh Miss TCP...what an excellent topic!

We also fret about such things. Constantly. Ultimately we have decided to keep doing it, believing that window shopping can provide a bright spot in the day for people. And in your case, you do a masterful job with the codes and savings and that is *really* what everyone is looking for, at least IOHO.

Great post!

Keep up the codes and sales! I have thought about the same thing with my blog and am going to try to post sales and codes more frequently

Good question! First, thanks very much for posting the Three Chickadees sale! The mom-owned small shops are certainly taking a hit during these tough times. Second, we can help the economy a bit by spending, and be smart about it at the same time -- so keep posting those codes!
