Preppy Specs

As you all know, I am decrepit and ancient. Lately, my eyes are really bothering me. Could be too much time in front of the the computer screen, could be one of the never-ending joys of pregnancy, but regardless of the cause, I feel like I always have "tired eyes."

I do own glasses, but wear them only on occasion. (For example, when they look cute with my outfit.) They are a good three years old, so I suppose I should get a check up and see if they need to be replaced. Which leads me (as you knew it would) to shopping for cute new frames.

I am of the school of thought that if you are going to wear glasses, wear them. Don't get the "invisible" kind, because we can all still see them sitting there on your face. A few pairs that caught my eye (ha ha)...

Kate Spade Florence frames

(Sadly, many of the Burberry frames were totally chav-tastic. But I thought these were subtle in the logo-ness?)

Sadly, this is one of the few things I would never purchase online. I really think you need to try glasses on in person, especially when one has a face the size of a small child's. Seriously, I look like a bug in many glasses...a vehement head shake would send the specs flying across the room. But it's always a good idea to pre-shop, yes?

I have a pair of D+G frames that I adore. You should check them out. They are preppy but in a really trendy sense. Does that make sense? I haven't had coffee yet.

Do NOT get the eyebobs, I beg you! I was shopping for glasses with a friend a few weeks ago (I wear contacts and glasses, but mostly contacts) and I tried on the eyebobs and all I can say is hello Dominick Dunne! No joke! No one can pull that look off but him.

I agree, glasses have to be tried on and you have to get the opinion of everyone in the place before deciding.

oops - sorry, I meant to specify the "old money" frames! What a horrid name for frames anyway!

When my PD and I were in Chicago last spring for a shopping trip we saw boutique type shops selling nothing but frames, cases, etc. There is so much out there to see. Good Luck!

Love the tortoise shell frames. Would like to get some new ones myself. :) I think you would look too cute in some glasses.

The funny thing about this is that I was just looking for reading glasses this week. Since I am over the age of 40, I cannot read the tiny print in the small size telephone book. Thanks for the finds.

Pre-shopping is a brilliant thing and very wise indeed! If I told you how many pair I have... all of these prescription unfortunately: regular & backup reading, regular & backup computer, regular sunglasses and bifocals for all the time. Which I never wear. In other words, unless reading, computing or in the sun I am blind as a bat.

Hear, hear on "pre-shopping". I particularly fancy the Eyebobs and the Kate Spade Florence frames, but all look excellent.

By the way, I laughed at "chav-tastic" . . . as a Burberry fan of old, it makes me sad how the label has been commandeered. The Burberry frames you selected, however, are also cute & tasteful

Love these! Speaking of glasses - what do you ladies think of brighton sunglasses? I saw these online for $70 and selling on ebay for a fraction of that price - thoughts? I love that they have pink and green on them!!!!
