The cool weather inspired me to bake--I finally made those pumpkin bars with brown butter icing. Oh.Mah.Gawd. They are so good. The icing, in particular, is to die for. (And I'm not usually a frosting girl. But this? Is legendary.)
Thanks for all the nice wishes for TCP Toddler's birthday! The party went off without a hitch, even though we eventually ended up moving things indoors--the fact that it was eleventy billion degrees out made it a bit too warm for the birthday boy and the octegenarian great-grandparents in particular. But he had a blast with his cake and now my living room looks like FAO Schwartz exploded all over it. Now I need to finish up his (read: my) thank you notes. He's run out of his personalized note cards, so I'm in the market for some new ones. Once again, little boys get the shaft. I cannot tell you how many cute pink -n- green things I have seen for little girls, but the options are so much more limited for boys. Consider this my personal plea, all you crafty, Etsy types: Please make cute things for boys too!!! So far, here are my contenders:
Cute, but pricey, from Pen & Parchment:

And a new discovery (god bless google), Amy Adele, has some really cute ones:

Not sure if you have looked at the Boatman Geller stuff online. I think they have really cute little boy stationary and calling cards. I really like the blue and red madras plaid, the airplane and the hippo...and of course the aligator ones are really cute. check it out if you haven't already :)
I like the third one with the aligator!
Did I out you on UB with the celeb mom post a couple of weeks ago?
Midwest Prep, I was all over those madras ones for his birthday invitations, but Mr. TC would have my head if I had spent that much! I do love them, though.
What, preppy mom? I didn't see that post! Give me a search term, I'll have to look it up!
If you could send fall down here, that would be fab.
If you send me some ideas I'd be more than happy to personalize some uber preppy cards for TCPB. email me!!
I made the pumpkin bars last night for a weekend trip. They are fabulous! I agree the frosting is to die for. Thank you for sharing the great receipe.
